Images from the first singing event of For the Bees on Tuesday 27th July, attended by members of The Royal Entomological Society as part of their annual conference which took place at Swansea University. The event was recorded for BBC Radio 4’s Material World which will be broadcast today Thursday 29th July at 4.30pm.

Owen and Fern will be talking live on BBC Radio 4’s Material World about our project For the Bees this Thursday 29th July at 4.30. You will also be able to hear a recording of the bee choir singing to the bees as part of the Royal Entomological Society’s annual conference in Swansea.

If you would like to attend one of the live singing events at the hives there are a few spaces left on August 6th and August 9th, email your RSVP to  owenandfern@yahoo.co.uk

Here is an image of Penny, she will become our mobile cinema where we will show the Co-op film ‘Vanishing of the Bees’ alongside our events. Hopefully Penny will be solar powered and one day may tour Wales sharing with people stories of the bees…

Owen and Fern are worried about the bees.
They have housed two colonies of honey bees in the grounds of Swansea University where across the summer
a Bee Choir will come and sing a specially commissioned sound piece to the bees in an act of shared concern for the bees.

You are invited to hear the choir singing to the bees and visit the mobile bee cinema on

Friday 6th August 6pm or Monday 9th August 6pm

Spaces are limited to 30 people per performance
